Sweet Adelines Perform at St. John’s United Church of Christ — Friday, April 19

Sweet Adelines will perform from 11:30 a.m. to noon on Friday, April 19, at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Boalsburg. A light lunch will be provided after the performance. The event is free to attend, but donations are greatly appreciated.

Curtin United Methodist Church’s Spring Yard and Bake Sale — Friday, April 19, and Saturday, April 20

Curtin United Methodist Church’s Spring Yard and Bake Sale will be from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday, April 19, and from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 20, at the church in Howard. There will be treats, pies, homemade soups, hot dogs, bargains, sloppy joes and more.

Live Music for Record Store Day — Saturday, April 20

There will be live music for Record Store Day 2024 at Fez Records in Bellefonte from 4 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, April 20. The store was accepted as an official Record Store Day 2024 location for independent record stores. The show is free, but a $5 donation is suggested to go towards the bands.

Relay for Life Yard Sale — Saturday, April 20

A huge indoor and outdoor Relay for Life Yard Sale will take place from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 20, at the Lions Club building in Pine Grove Mills. There will be soup, sandwiches and baked goods, with all proceeds going towards the American Cancer Society.

YMCA Healthy Kids Day — Saturday, April 20

The YMCA Healthy Kids Day is from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 20, at the State College YMCA. Families and kids are invited to get inspired to keep their minds and bodies active through summer and beyond.

CenClear Child Abuse Prevention Carnival — Saturday, April 20

The CenClear Child Abuse Prevention Carnival is from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, April 20, at CenClear in Port Matilda. Hosted by Centre Safe, families are invited to spend quality time together while discovering information about resources available throughout the community.

Logan Fire Company Chicken BBQ — Saturday, April 20

The Logan Fire Company is hosting its first Chicken BBQ of 2024 from 10 a.m. until sold out on Saturday, April 20, at the fire company in Bellefonte. A BBQ chicken half is $8 and a meal of chicken, baked beans, macaroni salad and a dinner roll is $10. Donations are also appreciated.

Bird Dog Handlers’ Clinic — Saturday, April 20

The Ruffed Grouse Society is hosting a Future Hunters and Handlers’ Clinic at 8 a.m. on Saturday, April 20, at Lion Country Supply in Port Matilda. The clinic is for new hunters and others wanting to build a better training relationship with their bird dogs. The Upland Bird Hunt Chapter and the Ridge Country Chapter of the RGS offer the clinic. Pre-registration is required, and an optional habitat drive will take place at 1:30 p.m.

Bald Eagle State Forest Litter Pick-Up and Free Lunch — Saturday, April 20

The Friends of R.B. Winter State Park are hosting a roadside litter clean-up from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, April 20, along a four-mile stretch of Route 192. Gloves, safety vests, trash bags and litter pick-up tools will be provided, but participants are advised to wear long pants, a long sleeve shirt and sturdy, water-resistant shoes. The group will meet at the park office, located at 17215 Buffalo Road, Mifflinburg. There will be a free lunch afterward for all pre-registered volunteers.

Earth Fest — Sunday, April 21

Millbrook Marsh Nature Center in State College invited the public to the Millbrook Marsh Earth Fest celebration from 1 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, April 21. Guests can spend the afternoon outdoors exploring displays from environmental groups, participating in activities and games, visiting local vendors, enjoying local entertainment and more.

Third Sunday Ukulele Jam — Sunday, April 21

The Allegheny Ukulele Kollective is hosting its Third Sunday Ukulele Jam from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, April 21, at the Nittany Mall Community Room in State College. The free event is open to all ages and all skill levels. The first half hour of the jam will be geared towards new and beginner players. There will be ukuleles for guests to borrow if they don’t have their own.

Penn State Campus Out of the Darkness Walk — Sunday, April 21

The Out of the Darkness Community Walk will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 21, on the lawn of the HUB Robeson Center on Penn State’s University Park campus. Hosted by the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, the walk is a journey of remembrance, hope and support.

Introduction to Managing Your Privacy Online — Tuesday, April 23

The Mid-State Literacy Council is hosting a free technology lecture called “Introduction to Managing your Privacy Online” from 1 to 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 23, at the Bellefonte Library. The lecture will discuss how ads target people online, how to limit tracking and where to find browser settings and extensions to better control how personal information is shared. The lecture is open to adults 50 and older.

Bird Walks With the State College Bird Club — Tuesday, April 23

The State College Bird Club and Millbrook Marsh Nature Center invite the public to join their bird walk from 8 to 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, April 23, at Spring Creek Park in State College. The walks are free and are great for beginner bird watchers. Participants are asked to dress appropriately for the weather and to bring a pair of binoculars.

Election Day Soup and Sandwich Sale — Tuesday, April 23

Port Matilda EMS is hosting an Election Day Soup and Sandwich Sale starting at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, April 23, at the Port Matilda EMS Station, the Halfmoon Township Municipal Building and the Halfmoon Christian Fellowship Church. The sale will run until supplies sell out.

Tail Waggin’ Tutors — Tuesday, April 23, and Thursday, April 25

The Centre County Library in Bellefonte will have trained therapy dogs for children to read to from 3:15 to 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday, April 23, and Thursday, April 25. The sessions are offered to help struggling and reluctant readers gain confidence. Those interested in attending can call 814-355-1516 to sign up for a 10-minute reading session.

Family Storytime — Wednesday, April 24

Family Storytime will be at the Bellefonte Centre County Library from 11 to 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 24. Guests are invited to the storytime rug for books, songs, dancing, rhymes and more. The free event is designed for children and babies.

Smarter Parents Workshop — Wednesday, April 24

Centre Safe and the Youth Service Bureau are presenting a workshop for parents and caregivers to be educated about child sexual abuse. The event is from 6 to 8 p.m. at the State College YMCA on Wednesday, April 24.

Bike Den Free Bike Safety 101 Workshop — Wednesday, April 24

Penn State’s Transportation Services is hosting a free Bike Safety 101 Workshop from 6:15 to 8:15 p.m. on Wednesday, April 24, at the Bike Den on the University Park campus. The event is open to the public as well as Penn State students, staff and faculty. The workshop teaches guests the rules of the road and bike safety skills before the group heads outside for a beginner-friendly practice course. Participants are asked to bring a bike and a helmet. The Bike Den is on the ground floor of the West Deck on campus.

Coreyah: Psychedelic Korean Folk — Wednesday, April 24

Coreyah will perform from 8 to 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 24, at Alumni Hall on Penn State’s University Park campus. The Seoul-based band combines traditional Korean melodies and lyrics with a variety of global music elements for a psychedelic sound. The concert is free, but registration is required.

Lego Hour — Thursday, April 25

Children of all ages are invited to Lego Hour at the Bellefonte Centre County Library in the Community Room from 3 to 4 p.m. on Thursday, April 25. Stop by to build and play with Legos and Duplos.
